Some successes I have had are as follows: I realize the importance of leadership development is like coaching or in other words acknowledging others innate skills and abilities of the staff and, playing to their strengths, well, as best you can. It takes a lot of time, patience, compassion and, understanding.  That takes much experience as well as, empathy towards others. Especially  when you can recognize a teachable moment in order to make it a lesson in, small business, communications, professionalism, life skills and/or, learning strategy.

As a construction crew coordinator, working together in some capacity with my construction crew director I have learned we have more in common than I think we know; prior to our deadline, making ends meet Thursday, April 13, 2017 for the dedication of this house in Magna, the Leonardo Children’s Museum staged an exhibit: “Where Children Sleep,” an artist showing a photo journalism documenting living conditions of youth from here and there in the United States of America also from all around the world. It  was, a truly humbling experience, witnessing what circumstances some children have had to live through immigrating, emigrating as well as, traveling the world over fleeing conflict ridden regions to escape certain death and/or, escape third world countries suffering social upheaval, political unrest, opposition and tourney.

In light of these recent events prior to, and as well as the following, all pale in comparison as to what we were remodeling this house for and making it a home for it’s future occupants.  Though through out the duration of this time in the house in Magna, Utah, together, my construction crew director, Brandon and I, have had a bonding experience when we were able to reach a mutual agreement as to what the living area in the kitchen space should look like with the new tenants in mind.  It may only have taken weeks in the months leading up to a decisive dedication but, we did not have a whole lot to go on from the Leonardo Children’s Museums interior designers/decorators in order to prepare what we thought would be a custom Leonardo kitchen for a new family.  We did not know what we had to contend with. But, we did our best.

And so after, having a heart to heart, listening to music with Brandon, working in the kitchen and, to us making music working in silence together, as well as hearing each other work on rainy days..  Feels, almost like brothers or, the closest thing to a mentor if I ever had for one.  I knew we were successful when we were able to overcome some confidence building obstacles, like communicating ourselves well enough to understand what roles of responsibility we were each obligated to lead, independently and, on a team, together.  As if, we’re observing, watching, listening and, hearing. we got each others back, hunting, for sports or, something.  Like, capacity building confidence in leadership, life Coaching each other, together.

We got set up, project planning, staging operations, creating an experience and providing the opportunity to accommodate each other achieving accomplishments by teaching moments in facilitating teachable moments to some of our volunteers By passing on information and, training knowledge under real life circumstances in real true to life issues in this situation, we may have just altered ones perception of what some peoples reality is as compared to what better it could be.  Possibility play, assigning value with responsibility, delegating opportunity by entertaining conversations…  Or in other words: by virtue of being human, experience, being you; whoever you are, whatever you are, and also., changing the world.
